all, 89 per cent per cent of trade visitors gave what was on offer at Reifen a positive rating - a slight increase compared with the previous event. More than a third also reported that they had placed orders at Reifen, or intend to place orders, which also represents a slight increase in ordering activity. And the average order value of 112,317 Euros was more than 10 per cent higher than at the previous event. 93 per cent of visitors
would recommend visiting Reifen - which means that this value has also improved slightly.
Reifen 2018 will take place in parallel to Automechanika from 11 - 15 September 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany. By taking this step, Messe Essen and Messe Frankfurt emphasise that they
are bringing the tyre industry together with the automotive aftermarket in a single trade fair location, at the wish of many exhibitors.

dimensions after many cures. A low modulus makes it easier to fit over the tyre. Tear resistance has also been studied at a high temperature in order to avoid tearing when removing the envelope from the tyre.
MAE says that its new generation outer envelope has already been
accepted by the market for its good fitment and good release (lubrication). Now the company says that the new compound will place MAE’s new generation envelopes at the top level of technology giving it a distinct advantage over the competition.
Romil report that one tyre manufacturer is already testing its rubber microwaving technology, and the company hopes that successful tests will result in further development of the technology for the tyre sector. Microwave tyre repairs could become a possibility. This technology from Czech company Romil uses microwaves to preheat rubber. The concept behind the machine is that it can be used to preheat natural rubber prior to compounding. The manufacturer suggests that it is possible to preheat 2.5 tonnes of rubber in 30 minutes and that it could preheat up to 80 tonnes
of natural rubber per day.
Romil claims that the preheating saves on time and energy costs in compounding and gives a greater homogeneity in the blended rubber in a shorter time.
Tests with tyres showed that tyres can be heated to 90 degrees before putting them into a mould for curing, saving 30 – 40 per cent of the energy used in manufacturing a tyre.
In terms of retreading, this might well be suitable for OTR retreading where large volumes of rubber need to be heated to vulcanise new treads. Thus saving time in the autoclave or in the presses.
Galgo Launches New Designs at Reifen
Galgo once again participated in the Reifen Trade Fair, held from May 24-27, 2016 in Essen, Germany.
One of the biggest highlights of the fair for Galgo was the launch of the company’s two new tread designs, the SRL (Super Single Rib Light), created for highway application, and the GRL (Galgo Rounded Shoulder Light), created for regional applications. In addition, Galgo introduced a new OTRead size stemming from its OTR VT (Versa Tread) line. This tread has many benefits including a low rolling resistance compound that not only generates less pollution but
also helps conserve fuel, thus meeting SmartWay approval. Present at the Galgo exhibit were company sales representatives who oversee various regions across Europe, as well as directors from the company headquarters located in Mexico. During the four day fair, Galgo representatives embraced the opportunity to meet with a large number of attendees and not only share the wide range of products and services the company provides, but also to gather feedback from individuals on what works well for them and how Galgo can better meet consumers’ needs.
MAE Introduces New Envelope Compound
Envelope manufacturer MAE Industria Gomma has revealed that, over a six-month period, it has carried out an accurate test in a number of countries on a new compound for outer envelopes made by Mould Tech. According to MAE the test
results have been extremely positive, and the company says it will incorporate the compound into production soon. The new compound has a good tension set at a high temperature (130C), which means that the envelope can retain its original shape and
