of pent-up demand should lead to decent volume growth in 2016, despite the fact that 2014 and 2015 provide some tough comparisons. In fact, demand has increased on a year-over-year basis for 20 of the past 21 months, according to the dealers surveyed.
Furthermore, most dealers stated they anticipate these sales trends to improve throughout the first three months of this year.
According to the MTD dealer survey, consumer demand for replacement tyres increased in
November. As stated, the dealers in the survey reported they sold 0.6% more tyres on a year-over-year basis, following a 0.1% increase in October and a 0.6% increase in September. Trends continued positive in the truck category as the dealers who responded to the survey reported volumes increased 3.9% after a 0.8% increase in October and a 1.6% decrease in September. Lastly, the survey respondents indicated volumes were up 6.3% in the retread business after decreasing 1.8% in October.
KRAIBURG Austria Extends Product Range
The Austrian retreading specialist has added another high- performance product to its range for long-distance traffic: KTE3, the K_plus version of the K801 trailer design, is now also available with immediate effect. Extensive tests show that this tread increases mileage by 25 per cent in comparison with the K801. All widths (295, 305 and 320 mm) are
being produced. The necessary specifications and supplementary sheets for the Pattern Programme are available on the Internet for download.
There are yet more new additions to the Kraiburg product range to report. Since its launch three years ago, the home-grown K225 / KMT1 design has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the absolute best-sellers. Five narrower widths have been added to the product line-up in response to customer demand from several quarters. The K225 / KMT1 is therefore available in widths 180, 190, 200, 210 and 220 mm. The entire selection is available as usual in both the K_base range and the K_plus range.
The Austrians have now also completed the range of their winter specialist, the K701, with the addition of the new 270 mm width. The K228 / KMA1 construction site pattern is also available in the new width of 240 mm. This now enables the retreaders to support the standard dimension of 13.00 R 22.5 as well.
MAE Adds New Inner and Outer Envelopes
MAE Industria Gomma has added a new inner envelope to its product range. In designing the Millenium S range, MAE Engineers have modified the product features to make the envelopes more user-friendly.
Main features of the new product are that an easier vacuum is possible when the tyre is in a vertical position and improved distribution of thickness, allowing the envelope to be either flexible or resistant where required in the most stressed parts of the envelope.
The envelopes are available for 19.5”, 20” and 22.5” tyre sizes.
MAE Industria Gomma has also introduced a new size of inner envelope Millennium S 1180 X 580 S for the tyre size 11-24.5.
New Sizes to Millennium S Range
MAE Industria Gomma has completed its range of Millennium S inner envelopes by adding 7 new sizes to this line. The new inner envelopes are available to fit tyre sizes from 19.5’’ to 24.5’’. The new sizes together with their
recommended fitment options are as follows;
•1180X580S •1160X540S •1100X540S
•1100X480S
•1060X540S •1060X480S

US Demand Trends are Holding Strong Despite Lack of Harsh Winter Weather
MAE has also added a new outer envelope, type “ST”, made using a new technology of the compression mould type, and the feedback from the market is very positive. In fact, this outer envelope is soft and pre lubricated from the factory and has a good deformation resistance and performance due to a better fitment on the tyre and an improved thickness distribution (thin sidewall - thick tread area).
At the end of 2015 thr ST range was updated including the availability of the first size of the new ST envelopes 41x34 to be used for the ARC System.
In 2016 more sizes will be available and the ARC ST catalogue will be completed by the end of April 2016. To complete the offer of new retreading consumables there is a new profile of Wicking Pads, designed to improve performance, in order to help Retreaders to easily prepare the tyres to the vacuum procedure. At the beginning of 2016 this range was updated and improved so to guarantee even more the performance making the vacuum procedure faster. The range can be viewed at several exhibitions in 2016: Reifen Essen (Germany), RECAUFAIR, Sao Paulo, Brazil at the NorteSul booth, New Orleans (US) at the Central Marketing stand and Tirexpo Africa in Johannesburg (South Africa) at the Chemvulc Marketing stand.
According to the results of an MTD dealer survey, demand for replacement tyres increased in November. Indeed, from a volume standpoint the dealers reported they sold 0.6% more tyres in November
on a year-over-year basis, following a 0.1% increase in October and a 0.6% increase in September.
In light of the recent strength in demand trends, MTD’s analysts continue to believe the abundance
