Retreading Technology Service: Russia‘s Pre-cured Tread Producer
Taimouraz Khestanow Retires
Taimouraz (Timur) Khestanow, who for almost two decades has been an Ellerbrock and later Marangoni RS Deutschland agent taking care of the Russian Federation and some CIS countries, is retiring this June. He is a well respected retreading specialist known in Russia and the CIS, having signed his first customer Belretread in Minsk, Belarus, back in 1996. Other leading Russian retreaders such as Good Wheels in St Petersburg and Povolzie Tyre Company in Togliatti, as well as many others, are his clients. Khestanow comes from the Caucasus. He studied and worked in Moscow,
so he knows Russian business and culture perfectly. He has lived in Germany for many years. His activities also include the refurbishing of retreading machinery sold mainly to Eastern European retreaders. We wish him well in his future life.
Retreading Technology Service Ltd. is a relatively young company, having been founded near St Petersburg in January 2013. Nevertheless, the owner Alexander E. Isaev has years of experience in the retreading industry, having been active in the Russian Federation since 2003 and working in nearby Estonia even earlier. His experience includes managing a truck tyre retreading plant, importing tyre retreading materials from Europe and distributing them in Russia. He also installed numerous retreading plants in the region.
Taking into consideration difficulties with material imports, including high import duties (now slightly reduced from the previous 20%), Isaev had a long term dream to start the production of precured treads in Russia, both for his own retreading plant and for other retreaders. This desire is now fulfilled in his new company. He acquired a second hand press from Europe and produced his first treads already in November 2013. The four metre press with six storeys allows a maximum output of 100 tons per months. Present production is around 20 tons. The company is without mixing capacities therefore several foreign suppliers of compounds were evaluated, and at the present time the plant cooperates with a local producer based in Yaroslavl. The company offers a surprisingly wide choice of tread patterns, which will be further enlarged before the end of this year. Retreading Technology Service is also continuing to operate its own truck tyre retreading plant, utilising Bandag type machinery. Because of existing market demand Isaev decided to broaden the scope of his retreading business, adding sizes up to 35“. The pre-cured treads for these dimensions will also be produced here in Russia and preparation work is in progress for this. It is expected that clients will initially require analogues of XADN and XHA patterns. As far as we are aware, Retreading Technology Service Ltd. is the only company manufacturing precured treads in the Russian Federation.
