In Brazil retreading brings together more than 1,200 companies in addition to bringing benefits to the environment. This was highlighted by the Brazilian Retreaders Association (ABR), who are to present an "X -ray" of the sector in the form of the “Pneushow Panel.”
In 2013, Brazil retreaded more than 16 million car and truck tyres. Commercial transport (truck and bus) consumed 9 million units, representing a savings of R$ 7 billion a year to the companies. Today, nearly two-thirds of the truck and bus tyres that run on Brazilian roads are retreaded.
The "X -ray" of the retreading segment will be presented by ABR Director Roberto de Oliveira in the Pneushow Panel on 25 of April. In the lecture "Brazil without Tyre Retreading? Benefits and Impacts of retreading on the Environment and Sustainability of the Country," the president of the ABR will also discuss the revenue to the exchequer in the three spheres of government, social aspects of
retreading activity and macroeconomic issues.
With 1,257 companies involved in retreading and generating more than 40,000 direct jobs, the activity lies consolidated in Brazil. So much so that over 90 per cent of rubber, treads and camelback, as well as the most important inputs for the production of these components are manufactured in the country.
Because of this independence of imports, the segment does not suffer directly with the exchange rate policy. The impact comes from a commodity: "The chain of the sector is based on the price of oil. Thus, the variation in oil prices and the dollar affects the industry," said Oliveira. For the manager, Pneushow - Recaufair provides manufacturers of products for retreading with the opportunity to present their innovations and trends for two types of customers: the retreaders and fleets. "For equipment manufacturers, the show helps to showcase new technologies."
