A lot of carcasses have delaminations and separations inside the tyre casings, which cannot be detected by visual inspection. Even X-Ray methods are not sensitive enough to detect these anomalies. This is the reason why SDS ITT-systems became an integrated part in the retread production where casings are typically tested at the beginning of the process.
One of the key factors in successful shearographic tyre testing is the reliability and repeatability of the test results. This is the major reason why SDS’ machines test the tyre in a horizontal position bead to bead. The flipping of the tyre is fully
automated and with the patented SDS triple head technique it is easy and fast. Such a setup can test up to 30 TBR tyres per hour.
After the successful introduction of SDS developments such as the Laser Marker Dmark tyre marking system for all types of tyres, Pressure Test System (PTS) for detecting structural weakness and fatigue and ITT-OTR Interferometric Tyre Tester for truck and earth mover tyres with giant sizes up to 63” (five systems have been sold already) SDS will present its latest development, the ITT Easy at Reifen Essen.
ITT Easy will be offered as economic basic system, testing primarily the crown area of light truck and truck tyres. It is compact and easy to use for reliable retreads. Visit SDS at their booth C26 in Hall 10.
