     Continental Tire Visits Apex Capital
Continental Tire visited the Apex Capital offices in Fort Worth
recently to introduce its promotional truck, featuring Continental’s commercial vehicle tyres, to all Apex employees and local clients. Continental explained the features of their commercial truck tyres,
educated employees and clients on how tyres affect fuel efficiency, and discussed Continental’s tyre pressure monitoring systems.
Apex recently announced Continental as its newest industry partner, effectively providing all Apex clients with a special discount
on Continental and General Tires. To celebrate this announcement, Apex launched a giveaway on their website, where clients could enter to win a set of Continental or General steer tyres and service. The winner will be announced in the coming weeks.
Continental Tire has the largest selection of SmartWay verified® tyres and recently released its HDR1 Eco Plus ContiTreadTM retread tyre, the first open shoulder drive position retread to be verified by SmartWay, according to Continental engineers.
ATD Buys Terry’s Tire Town and Closes HQ with a Loss of 150 Jobs
   American Tire Distributors has bought out Alliance, North Carolina’s Terry’s Tire Town in a deal put at $65.6 million, including $2.2 million in assumed debts and a payment of up to $15 million in additional considerations, according to the ES Securities and Exchange Commission report.
Expected to close later this year are the Terry's Tire Town T & Z Tire building, which house the organisation's accounting department, the company's distribution centre and its headquarters. Staff claim to have
been notified of the impending closure on March 28.
The closures will cost the jobs of some 150 employees. The announcement came just two weeks after the purchase was completed.
The distribution centre will close by mid-June; the headquarters will continue operations until the end of the year, Ron Sinclair, American Tire’s senior vice president of marketing.

Some employees will be offered positions at nearby facilities or at American Tire’s headquarters in
Charlotte, N.C.
The company will offer severance packages and outplacement services for other employees.
The company has multiple nearby
facilities— including locations in Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, and Pittsburgh — that will be better able to serve customers, Sinclair said.
  Green Arc Tire and AirBoss
Partner to Create Jobs and
Promote Green Innovation

AirBoss Rubber Compounding is one of North America's largest custom rubber mixers. It will produce up to 24 million pounds of rubber compound annually for Green Arc tyres. "This additional volume at the company's Kitchener facility
will create 20 new jobs," said Steve Barefoot, Plant Manager at AirBoss.
