Bandag Sues Bandago
reached a settlement in 2010, allowing the Bandago name so long as it was limited to vehicle rental.
However, Bandago created a new logo in 2012 and asked Bandag if it had any objections. Bandag’s lawyers say that
the tail of the “g” in the Bandago logo, flowing to underline the Bandago name is too close to Bandag’s own script, which also has the tail
of the “g” underlining Bandag. Bandag is suing for trademark infringement, false designation of origin, dilution, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and unfair competition.
Bridgestone America's tyre retreading arm is suing a van- transport company for trademark infringement.
Filed in January, in the U.S. District Court for Middle Tennessee, Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions says Bandago, a California-based company that provides van rentals primarily for
touring musical acts, is using a newly-designed logo which may cause consumer

Toyo Improves US
Casing Warranty
Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. has improved the casing warranty for its commercial medium truck and bus radials purchased after Oct. 10, 2013.
The change—increasing the first- retread casing value to $110 from $90—is part of an effort to instil confidence in Toyo’s truck and bus tyre casings for retreaders.
“We are offering our improved casing warranty to further demonstrate the benefits of using Toyo brand commercial tyres,” said Lowell Slimp, Toyo’s senior product manager, commercial truck tyres, “which help to reduce the cost per mile for fleet and independent operations that rely on both quality and durability.”
The increased casing value applies for the first retread on many popular sizes, Toyo said. The company also offers a rubber allowance of up to $50 based on the remaining tread depth of the tyre.
The new, 66-month warranty applies to Toyo commercial truck tyres purchased after Oct. 10. The full casing value applies to tyres not worn beyond 2/32nds-inch of treadwear that were used in the service for which they were designed and limited to no more than 66 months from the date of manufacture.
When tyres are worn beyond the first 2/32nd-inch, adjustment credit will be based on a pro-rata replacement based on the percentage of tread depth remaining.
More information about Toyo’s improved casing warranty for commercial tyres is available on the company’s website or through an authorised Toyo Tires dealer.
