JM Tyre Marc has also been manufacturing precure retreading machiner y since 1989 and has a strong client base among tyre retreaders and state transport companies. The company manufactures plant machinery such as inspection spreaders,
prospects in the domestic market. “The exponential growth in the Indian automobile market has made people increasingly aware of the importance of tyre care,” he added. “There is always a large requirement for reliable and easy to use equipment.”
The company has travelled a long way since it started in the early eighties with a range of tyre retreading tools. Elgi Launches Armonas Monorail System
in India.
Gemeni supplies equipment to both the domestic and export markets and claims to have exported about half a dozen plants last year. “We have been shipping equipment to countries like Fiji, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Uganda, Kenya, Madagascar, Ghana, Mauritius, Italy, Egypt and UAE in recent years,” said Makesh.
“We have recently launched a heavy duty builder for the export market in a unique new design,” said Makesh on the company’s stand. “We are also showcasing a new three tyre chamber with pressure cooker type locking system. This power saving chamber will target retreaders with small operations,” he added.
With a raft of acquisitions during the past few years Elgi, has gradually placed increased emphasis on its ability to provide a comprehensive array of retreading equipment and accessories, with tread rubber supply taking a less prominent role in the company’s business. This approach was plainly evident during Tyrexpo India, where the company showed an impressive presence with one of the largest stands at the exhibition.
Taking centre stage was a newly launched monorail tyre handling system, developed by the company’s recently acquired Brazilian subsidiary Armonas.
With India being home to 39 tyre manufacturers and 60 individual production plants, Elgi clearly hopes that its ability to provide a complete range of retreading equipment will allow it to take advantage of producers moving into, or developing their retreading capacity. In addition, the growth in
radialisation of truck, OHT/OTR and agricultural products in India is viewed as a major opportunity for the development large scale retreading operations.
The Armonas monorail system connects and streamlines all stages of the retreading process into a single production line; increasing efficiency, reducing manpower and eradicating contamination, as once loaded onto the monorail the tyre makes no further contact with the factor y floor until retreading is complete.
Elgi’s Satish Kumar commented: “We completed the purchase of Armonas earlier this year, recognising that the monorail system takes retreading efficiency to a new level. It is the first of its kind in India and we think it will appeal to larger new tyre manufacturers who want to develop their business by investing in a high quality, professional retreading operation.”
