Malcolm Logistics Opts for Goodyear Dunlop
Malcolm Logistics, a division of The Malcolm Group – a leading provider of logistics, construction and maintenance services in the UK – has signed a 5-year deal with Goodyear Dunlop.
The deal was signed after Malcolm Logistics were impressed by the fuel savings and performance made possible with the manufacturer’s latest generation new products and TreadMax Retread.
Malcolm Logistics, the fully integrated road, rail and warehousing logistics provider, will fit more than 1000 trailers and 300 tractor units with Goodyear’s RHS II on the steer axle, TreadMax RHD II on the driven axles, TreadMax RHT II on the 1st & 2nd trailer axles, with RHT II new on the 3rd axle. The company will also take advantage of Goodyear Dunlop’s dedicated TruckForce service to help reduce breakdown times and improve customer service.
Commenting on the decision to switch to Goodyear, Steven Sugden, Fleet Engineer at Malcolm Logistics said: “After a visit to Goodyear’s Wolverhampton Retread plant I was impressed by the inspection processes and quality of the finished product. In addition to this Treadmax only uses first life Goodyear casings and the tread compound and patterns are the same as the new product, which gave us confidence they would deliver similar mileages and fuel saving benefits to the new product range. We also used the new tyre labelling legislation to give a guide into the rolling resistance capabilities of all the new tyres considered and Goodyear’s results were certainly impressive. Running a fuel efficient fleet is a strong priority for us, alongside minimising the carbon emissions of our trucks.” “All TreadMax retread products are produced in Goodyear’s in-house facilities to the same high quality standards as those applied to new tyres. They are exclusively built using only latest generation tyre casings and with tread patterns and tread compounds that are similar to those used in the construction of their new- tyre counterparts. This results in performance similar to that of the new tyres they replicate, continuing the fuel saving and other benefits offered by new tyres.
As part of the long-term agreement, Malcolm Logistics has agreed to specify all new equipment on
Goodyear products and both parties have agreed to enter into trials, to evaluate new products and the impact of these on increased tyre mileages and lower fuel costs.
Commenting on the deal, Graham Hutchison, UK Commercial Sales Manager at Goodyear Dunlop said: “This deal is indicative of what we can
bring to the table for companies like Malcolm Logistics – we can combine retread and new tyres to deliver a high performance, cost-efficient solution and enhance customer service through a bespoke TruckForce offer. For me
what is really satisfying about this deal is the long-term nature of our relationship, which means we can work strategically together to really add value to Malcolm Logistics’ overall business.”
