TECHNOLOGY
integration with Microsoft Dynamics-Nav means that Roline can generate reports that identify recurring issues.
For Roline’s customers, fleet inspections will now be a matter of walking around the vehicle with a handheld scanner. Extended across a whole fleet, this will save customers hours on each inspection.
It is also easy to spot if a tyre has been stolen, or, if a tyre is faulty and an insurance claim needs to be made, to trace the provenance of
the tyre.
Hans Jorg, project manager at Roline commented; “The RFID implementation from Motorola and Ferm RFID Solutions allows us to track ever y tyre from the beginning of its life to the end. The RFID label and RFID Patches has given a boost to our inventor y control system. Inventor y-checking, a job that was once time-consuming and error- prone, is now carried out accurately in a matter of minutes, because the tags can be read by the Motorola scanners at a long range.”
“After a bumpy ride, the stacks often fell over when unloading with normal forks – now we can grip the whole stack without it falling over and causing extra manual work” says Nielsen.
“Also the processes of tilting the stacks, re-stacking and placing the tyres in the stock, is much faster”. However, one of the added benefits of using the Stacker is more room to move around after unloading a truck, as all of the tyres are quickly stacked, taking up less space in the stockroom.
“Overall, using the Easy Stacker has given us at least a 20-25 per cent time-saving on handling tyres” Henrik Nielsen sums up. “But also, the Stacker is just great at sorting tyres” Jakob Davidsen, one of Vulkan Dæk´s experienced forklift drivers breaks in, “Most often the stacks are mixed and with the new Stacker you
easily sort them out in different stacks – there is absolutely no comparison to how we had to tilt over the stacks with the forklift before, and sort them by hand.”
However, talking to Henrik Nielsen about savings and economy, he points out “The economy is not the most important benefit using the Easy Stacker - I finally decided to make the investment when I realised how it could relieve my employees and help them stay healthy at work.”
Handling or stacking tyres of around 80 kg per tyre, is a hard job and occasionally a tyre “runs wild”. Using the Easy Stacker has made the job easier, reduced the strain on key personnel and minimised the risk of accidents. “While they were a little reluctant at first”, Henrik Nielsen adds, “Now they won´t work without it”
Easy Stacker – An Essential Storeroom App
Danish Retreader Vulkan Dæk A/S started using the Easy Stacker in May 2012. Since then it has experienced increased efficiency of up to 25 per cent as well as better working condition when handling truck tyres. The roots in the family business goes back to 1963, and Vulkan Dæk A/S is today one of only four retreaders left in Denmark. It has expanded its business in recent years years and the focus is today on the production of retreaded truck tyres by the Marangoni Ringtread method.
With more than 31 years in the business, and the last 18 years as the manager and owner, Henrik Nielsen is well aware of the combination of motivated staff, well organised processes and use of new technology needed to make a profitable business in the retreading business, with only 11 employees. This is why he took the decision to buy the Easy Stacker. The Easy Stacker has proven to give Vulkan Dæk A/S a number of advantages when unloading, inspecting and sorting out tyres.
Kraiburg:
Keeping Customers Satisfied
The annual customer satisfaction analysis is confirmation for Kraiburg Austria once again that companies in the retreading business in Europe are very satisfied with their supplier of quality precure and hotcure materials. The overall score is the same as last year at 1.6. The retreading specialist polled 38 customers in 27 countries who accounted for more than 40 per cent of total sales in 2012, inviting them to award marks from 1 at the top to 6 at the bottom. There were seven sections of questions in total. All the scores were in the ones and remained at the previous year's level, with the one exception of communication and information which scored worse than last year with 1.9. The top grade of 1.27 went to the technical support
services. It is the advice and information on possible improvements to the product quality which the customers value most in this category – and which prompts them to want even more one-on-one contact. Product quality scored an excellent 1.54 and is still very much appreciated by the retreaders, both for orders of hotcure retreading materials and for the tread patterns in the K_base, K_tech and K_plus ranges. "The results are very gratifying and they also spur us on to do more", said a delighted Holger Düx, Head of Sales and Marketing at Kraiburg Austria, "and so we are already working on a package of measures which will enable us to cater for the requirements of our customers even better in future and to beat our performance next year".
