ESSEN
Dobermann Aims to Increase Profile at Essen
Dobermann is the brand name of the Venezuelan company, Covencaucho, which in recent years has begun to extend its influence outside the Latin American markets. The company now aims to increase its profile at the Reifen show in Essen and will be represented by its European distributor on stand C09. In Europe, the company is represented by Rubber Global Supplies whose head office and central warehouse is based in Rome, Italy.
The Dobermann product line for the tyre market includes butyl inner tubes and flaps, rubber compounds for truck, OTR and agriculture, inner and outer envelopes for retreading, curing tubes, rubber rings for the “ARC” System of retreading, solid tyres, retreads and other retreading supplies. Covencaucho was founded back in the 1950s by Don Ferdinando De Filippo, whose vision was to create a service company in the transport sector, capable of
generating jobs, based on the principles of development, technical research and the offer of innovative
commercial solutions.
The company began operations in 1960, devoted to the purchase and sale of new tyres. In 1964 the first production plant was opened
in Zona
Industrial I.
(Barquisimeto,
Lara), covering
5,000 square
metres with a capacity of 7,000 units per month. This plant depended heavily on the supply of raw materials from tyre manufacturers.
In 1977 construction of a new plant began. Located in Zona Industrial II, (Barquisimeto, Lara), the site had an 80,000 m2 area and occupied 40,000 m2. The 21 million dollar plant opened in 1981 with a capacity of 9,500 units per month.
In 1982, driven by the demands of the market, installation of an inner tube production
line with the capacity of 2,500 units per month began followed by a rim flap production line with a capacity of 4,000 units per month.
In 1996, after further expansion, a new plant was built in order to separate and increase the production of inner tubes,
curing tubes for precure and mould cure retreading, and outside envelopes.
Production averaged 220,000 inner tubes and 660 curing tubes/envelopes per month. 2000 - marked the expansion and modernisation of the company’s sales offices and the internationalisation of its manufactured goods. This was followed in 2004 by the development of Covencaucho as a supplier of retreading materials and, in 2006, by the commencement of the production of inside envelopes. Dobermann inner envelopes are developed to meet the demands
of the current market, offering a greater number of cycles and maintaining unchanged features and properties up to the end of their lifespan. Each is made with high quality butyl compounds, tested and approved in the company’s own retreading factor y.
The company’s range of outer envelopes are made of butyl based compounds and are claimed to generate a high resistance to heat and offer multiple cycles of precured vulcanising. They are available for use with rim flanges and inner-outer envelopes. Dobermann offers curing tubes for both mould cure and precured systems and are claimed to offer the best cost- benefit option in the market. Butyl based, they are highly resistant to heat and enable an easier and more flexible handling in each vulcanisation cycle, providing countless service cycles.
