Full House for Tyrexpo Africa 2012
Exceptional exhibitor interest in Tyrexpo Africa 2012 has guaranteed a full house for the next staging of the exhibition in the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg in early March. Visitors to the three- day exhibition will have the opportunity of seeing the latest and best from dozens of domestic and international tyre, equipment and technology suppliers.
“Tyrexpo Africa will be a busy and vibrant show offering something for everyone with a professional interest in the tyre and equipment industry,” says Paul Farrant, managing director for show organiser ECI International. “As the only dedicated show for the sector it is a great opportunity to meet new suppliers and customers.”
A full range of products covering the passenger car, truck, mining, agricultural and industrial markets will be offered by suppliers including Beltyre, Cooper Chengshan, Crown Tyre Industrial, Deestone, Profil, Stamford Tyres and Wheels, Techking, Tyrecor – distributors of the Infinity, Solideal
and Starmaxx brands, Tubestone, who represent BKT and Nankang in the region, Exotic Wheel & Tyre with their Silverstone, Accelera, Kenda and Sonar brands, and many others.
Retreaders and tyre repairers will also be present in the form of leading companies such as India’s Elgi Rubber (JET tyre and tube repair units and Titan retreading machines and pre-cured tread moulds), Bandenmarkt and Richards Bay Tyres.
Visitors to the show will come from all corners of the tyre world; with strong representation expected from
Africa, south Asia, China, Europe, the US and many other countries. They will see the latest products and equipment from among others, Automotive Equipment International (AEI), Haweka, Hofmann Megaplan, Launch Technologies, Leaderquip, Leadertread, Robert Bosch, SDS Systemtechnik, Syco Machinery and Wheelquip.
With an estimated 60 million used tyres causing a major environmental concern in South Africa, REDISA (Recycling Economic Development Initiative
of South Africa) will be promoting
a controversial new scheme to establish a sustainable waste tyre collection infrastructure for the country. A financial levy of Rand 2.3 per kilogram of manufactured or imported tyre products, will apply to all tyres, including those fitted to imported equipment, from the beginning of February this year. ECI’s Paul Farrant concludes by saying: “When business is tough and margins are tight customers are looking for an edge that can give
them a market advantage. We’re very confident that suppliers at Tyrexpo Africa will be in a position to offer that kind of incentive, through a combination of unique products, exceptional service and keen pricing. This will be a show where a lot of business will be done and many profitable new relationships are formed.”
Tyrexpo Africa 2012 takes place between 6-8 March at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg (SCC), South Africa. For more information and to pre-register for free admission to the show, go to www.eci-international.com.
New Differometric Tyre Analyzer for Under $100,000
With over 40 years of providing the highest quality non-destructive testing equipment to the tyre and retreading industry, L-Ray has announced the introduction of its newest models of Differometric Tyre Analyzers. The new MDA-48 series machines will use the same fast, simple Differometric technology, but in a manual load/unload, 2 camera configuration with a base price of under $100,000 U.S.
Lee Petrimoulx, L-Ray President explains: “We know that our technology is the best in the industry, but unfortunately some tyre companies and smaller
retread operations can’t afford our full-featured, automated DVS-
1220 machines. With that in mind, we set out to design a product that meets all of our stringent engineering and manufacturing standards, but at a lower price point.”
All MDA-48 machines will be 100 per cent manufactured at L-Ray’s Lake Orion, Michigan facility.
The base MDA-48 machines will provide crown and partial sidewall anomaly and separation detection, with a 4 camera, bead- to-bead option available. Cycle times will be only slightly longer than the industry leading DVS-
1220 series, due to the manual loading and unloading.
The MDA-48 series machines will accommodate all of the same automotive, light and heavy truck tyre sizes (up to 46” outside diameter), including super singles. A MDA-60 series machine is scheduled to be available mid- 2012 and will accommodate tyres up to 58” diameter, to complement the existing DVS- 1575 machines.
“TCS has both the infrastructure and realistic development approach to implement highly successful retreading software," says Loden. "This new retread software application, packaged with TCS’s current technologies, provides an unmatched solution for any and all retread businesses."
  Software Company Targets Retreaders
Tire Company Solutions (TCS) Technologies, a software and technology provider for the tyre, automotive, and retread industr y, is partnering with the founders of Open Road Technologies to bring to market a complete retread software solution.
Gary Ingber, past president of Open Road Technologies and original designer of the RoadWare Tyre Tracking Management System (RoadWare) software, and Tim Loden, president of Advantage ID
and former co-owner of Open Road Technologies, have been hired to build a comprehensive retread package that :
• will be offered as a stand- alone application, or
• can be fully integrated within TCS’s Tyre Core software system. Ingber is managing the development of the retread software until it is successfully operational in the retreading facilities already committed to TCS.
“In adding Tim and Gary’s experience and proven record of success, TCS is bringing to market the elite level software solution for independent retreaders,” says Barry Reese, president of TCS. “The end result of being able to package this retread software with our complete business management solution will be the best scenario imaginable for independent retread facilities looking for an advanced and updated system.”
