doubled nearly all production capabilities.
Obviously, this production capacity investment and improvement is significant but not necessarily because we can increase production volume but rather in that we can reduce production time and provide a greater product turn- around time and improved customer service. I remain very proud of our 2011 year growth but I am very cognitive of the undeniable fact that it has all been made possible by our many very valued customers and their continued patronage and for that I am grateful and equally proud”.
New additions to H&H through the year include a TRM Model XEM 3800 Computer Controlled Inflatable Builder . Work started on the site and installation of this builder in September 2011, and it was expected that the equipment would be fully operational early in 2012.
The TRM model XEM 3800 is a
acquire and utilize this technology in an effort to further insure the most reliable and cost effective retread product. Regrooving OTR tyres and cutting grooves into remoulded OTR tyres requires some heavy duty equipment. And in August 2011, the company added a second IMS (IMS Fabrication Inc.) model 28, 4 axis CNC Super Groover with 24” to 63” capacity to its arsenal of computer controlled OTR groovers bringing the total to five state of the art tyre sculpting machines including three model 24, 4 axis CNC groovers having the capacity of 24” through 51”. At the time of this addition all groovers were relocated to a new building addition completed in July 2011 to increase production and improve customer turnaround time as well as streamline production.
OTR retreads consume large amounts of tread, and H&H has now installed its own OTR tread press to allow it to
H&H Industries president, Noah Hickman in a review of the company’s product developments through 2011 says, “Looking back on 2011, the year brought one of the most, if not the most, rewarding years in our near 40 year history. All too often the temptation to personally enjoy the financial rewards of a bountiful year is greater than the desire to reinvest in company growth. We at H
our future. Each New Year we set goals that always exceed our reasonable expectations as well as projected capabilities and 2011 was no different with the pleasant exception of exceeding our 2011 inflated goals.”
Ken Daniels, CEO added, “Having joined the company at the time of its inception and recalling past struggles and victories from the company’s infancy, through to
& H have traditionally maintained the perspective that investing the rewards of a good year back into our business and the customers we serve brings comparable satisfaction while securing
and including this past year, I have witnessed and participated in many company landmark changes in the previous four decades however, I cannot recall a time that in a single year we
computer controlled inflatable builder with the capacity to retread OTR tyres in sizes ranging from 14.00X24 through and including the 63 inch tyre. This builder is manufactured with current state-of-the–art technology and when operating side by side with the company’s current builder of equal size and production capabilities H & H Industries can comfortably double production. More important to production capacities is the ability to significantly increase the required turn around time on all retread products.
To enhance the quality of OTR retreading, H&H has also installed a Shand Systems Earth Scan unit. In early December 2011 H & H Industries began the process of installing its recently purchased “Earth Scan” which utilizes ultrasound technology to perform non- intrusive OTR tyre inspections.
The “Earth Scan” is capable of scanning tyres from rim sizes of twenty five inch through the sixty three inch rim producing a digitalized image to detect belt separations, impact damage, build problems and or porosity and incomplete curing.
H & H Industries intends to utilise this technology to examine noted and or suspected core body damage or abnormalities both prior to and following retread or repair.
H & H Industries is the first OTR retreading facility in the United States to
manufacture its own pre-cure OTR treads. This operation uses an Erie Mills 2000 PSI, 1,018 ton mould press.
H & H Industries is now producing Pre- Cure tread rubber in sizes 20.5, 23.5, 26.5, 29.5, 24.00X35, 27.00X49, 35/65X33, 33.00X51 and 57” all to compliment our Pre-Cure retread line that features the “Continuum” product by Bridgestone.
The development doesn’t stop there, as the company has also added two reconditioned Akron Buffer/ Builders specifically for solid and foam fill retreading. This brings the production equipment dedicated to solid/foam fill to two buffer/builder combination effectively more than doubling the previous production capacity. Currently H & H Industries is retreading solid and foam fill in sizes ranging from the skid steer tyre to the 29.5X25. This recent addition to production enhances our goal of improved turnaround time as well as streamlining production.
All this new equipment needs space, and to that end H&H Industries is constructing a production facility expansion totalling 50 X 70 feet bringing the total square feet production facilities to over 70,000. Once again this addition is to improve production capacities, increase turnaround time and streamline production. Construction completion is expected by the end of February 2012.
