CTRA SHOW
CTRA Show Leads the Way in China
Properly called the Tire Cyclic Utilization Expo, this show is sponsored by China's government authorised China Tyre Retreading, Repair and Recycling Association. This is China's window on the retread and recycling sector and although a small show by comparison to some of the wider appeal tyre shows, it gives those involved in the retread and recycling sector a chance to focus on their chosen field.
It has been growing in stature,
following, or perhaps leading the development of the sector in China. Introducing the latest technology aimed at the Chinese market, and perhaps more importantly, specified for the Chinese market.
Early on western suppliers realised that budgets were very different in China, as were the standards, and subsequently many partnered with Chinese firms to create products and processes specifically designed to suit the dynamics of the Chinese market.
Acten Tyre Inspection
The VMI-AZ Extrusion CTC (Cushion-to-Casing) system directly extrudes hot cushion gum onto a buffed casing therefore replacing the process of wrapping calendared sheet cushion gum around the casing. A single extruder feed strip is drawn into the feeder section, heated through plasticization in the mixing section of the extruder then forced through the 420mm wide CTC extrusion head and onto the buffed casing.
With the CTC skive filling action being fully automatic, the process is significantly more
reliable than that
performed by an
operator with a hand
held extruder. Cushion
gum width is selected
through moveable
slides that alter the
die opening
width of
the
extrusion
head and
specially
shaped
swift-change
side dies are
available to ensure the
cushion gum can be partially extruded on the casing shoulder to accommodate precured tread with single or contour sides.
The VMI-AZ Extrusion CTC system is available in both the CTC-SB1 and CTC-SB V model options. The main features of the CTC-SB1 include optimization for large production units with the capacity to handle up to 80 16 inch tyres during an eight hour production shift (including cushion gumming and pre-cure tread building.
Other benefits of the SB1 include: -PLC controlled with touch screen
HMI
-Automatic tread stretching for precise splice matching
-Reduced labour costs through automatic skive filling
-Single size feed strip for reduced cushion gum costs
-Correctly formulated cushion gum for reduced cement spraying costs -Increased product quality
The main features of the CTC-SB V include optimization for both small and large production units and the capacity to produce up to 140 tyres
each individual shift.
In 1994, a group of engineers set up Acten, a company specializing in rubber processing machinery. The formation of the company was inspired by a pool of innovative and creative ideas generated from many years of experience working for a major rubber tread manufacturer. Acten today has developed and provides services in design and consultation, machinery maintenance and modification, new and technically advanced equipment, raw materials and accessories.
Acten is a growing name in the tyre retreading sector and is playing a key role in bringing together Chinese market demands and the need for quality and technology. One of the company's latest developments is the Acten-Alpetor Tyre Inspection Machine.
Acten-Alpetor Superview Tire Inspection Machine
The Acten-Alpetor Superview is designed to offer a simple means of looking at tyre casings not only on the surface level but beyond that. It is akin to peeling off the surface rubber to expose the body plies, steel cords and bead wires amongst others. Simple, quick and precise, it gives you peace of mind enabling you to consistently deliver on quality and reliability.
Features:
• Built with leading edge technology in USA.
• Inspects tyre casings from passenger to some OTRs – tyre overall height 50“ (max.) sectional width 20” (max.)
• Ultra low Acten-Alpetor Superview emission allows for use in open environment without protective lead enclosure (American safety standards)
• Real-time 9” Acten-Alpetor Superview view on hi-resolution / hi-contrast monitors that is always in focus and instantaneous.
• 1-minute inspection cycle for most TB tyre casings – crown, sidewalls and beads.
• Proprietary Acten-Alpetor Superview imaging component and software enabled on-screen defect measurement, compactness/ density measurement and many more functional applications.
• Pre-retreading inspection exposing ply separation, nail hole, pre-zipper, damaged body ply, rust condition etc.
• Post-retreading inspection exposing miscure, rubber porosity, repair failure etc.
• New tyre inspection exposing manufacturer defects.
• Very low maintenance.
