Tyregrip, one of the largest independent retreaders in Western India, switched to Indag Rubber as their tread rubber supplier after moving to a new facility in Pune in 2023.
Growth At the Heart of Expansion for Tyregrip
As part of its strategic business development, Tyregrip, one of the largest independent retreaders in the Western part of India, made a significant move last year. They transitioned to a new tread rubber supplier, Indag Rubber, after relocating to a state-of-the-art facility in 2023. “We have been procuring tread rubber from Indag Rubber since September last year. Previously, our tread rubber was sourced from Eastern Treads in September 2023,” shared Prasad Mahajan, Managing Director, Tyregrip.
The new Pune facility is one of the largest retreading plants in Western India. It has a capacity of 6,000 tyres per month but currently operates at half that. The plant consumes over 25 tons of tread rubber monthly, boosting Indag Rubber’s market presence in the region. Indag Rubber’s aggressive marketing strategy has helped it expand its customer base, including key players like Tyregrip.
Prasad Mahajan emphasized their focus on serving the cash market and expressed hope for steady growth in capacity utilization. “It is easier to operate at full capacity on credit, but our focus remains on the cash market,” he said.
In February, Tyregrip celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a decade in business despite market challenges and the pandemic. They installed an 18.00/25 tyre size electric bonder and continue to dominate the Mumbai retread market, with 90% of their retreading done by the precure process.
Tyregrip previously operated in Mumbai, Pune, and Surat. In February 2023, It consolidated operations in its new Pune facility. This strategic move aimed at streamlining operations and improving efficiency, making the Pune plant one of the region’s largest and most advanced retreading facilities.
