SUSTRENDLAB’S T.PHITE
SCOOPS BEST TYRE DERIVED
BEST TYRE DERIVED RECYCLED PRODUCT
PRODUCT AWARD
One of the most enduring images of both the Future of Retreading and Recycling Conference in Bologna and the Tyre Recycling Conference, was the sight of SustrendLab founder Dario An- dreani entering the stage driving a remote-con- trolled model car powered by lithium-ion batte- ries produced from recycled tyres.
SustrendLab is a Chilean company founded as was itself founded in 2014 in order to provide support to the Chilean retreading industry. The development of the company’s key innovation, T.Phite, goes back to 2018 when the company received an award from the regional innova- tion programme CORFO for research into the “obtention of graphite” from rCB. The result was anodes produced from carbon black recovered from end-of-life tyres.

conductivity and high performance. It is clai- med to offer a 75% reduction in carbon foo- tprint compared to conventional graphites. SustrendLab’s strategic plan is to raise capital for a pilot plant for T.Phite with a view to laun- ching a full-scale industrial plant by 2026.
