COUNTRY
REPORT - COSTA RICA
the Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Minister of National Planning and Economic Policy, Minister of Environment and Energy. The above seeks to respond to the goals derived from Sustai- - tion and consumption patterns.
This policy aims to gradually adopt sustainable production and con- sumption patterns that contribute to the welfare of the general po- pulation and future generations, through the articulation of national planning instruments in a framework of inter-institutional and inter- sectoral coordination.
Regarding Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP), Costa Rica has made considerable progress and there is a profusion of regulations that allow institutions to do so.
From an environmental point of view, making this type of purchases means that an institution is acquiring products or services with ener- the concern for the adequate management of waste, among other important aspects, that seek to mitigate the negative impacts on the environment.
However, with respect to tyres, in 2021 the reported public expen- diture was 94% in new tyres and only 6% in tyre retreading services. Therefore, ACOLLRE and FUNDELLANTAS work together with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environment and Energy to
- near economy culture to a circular economy.
We promote that organisations satisfy their needs for goods and services, obtaining the best value for the money invested in terms the society considering in an integral way social, environmental, and economic criteria.
