       RECIRCLE AWARDS 2021
Recircle Awards 2021: The Awards Ceremony
When the concept for the inaugural Recircle Awards was conceived in the middle of 2019, the original plan was to host the awards ceremony together with a gala dinner during the Autopromotec show in Bologna. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic meant that we had to re-evaluate our plans and create an alternative event concept that fitted in with the unusual demands placed upon us at the time.
The solution we decided on was totally virtual Awards Ceremony designed and conceived by our Madrid-based design agency, Valebridge Media Services and hosted by our own Richard Wilson and Charlotte Nahon. Recorded in advance and involving partners and collaborators from around the world, the forty minute Awards Ceremony was hosted on Facebook and Youtube and was promoted heavily in our magazines, on our websites and across social media.
The Ceremony, which was released to the public at 6 pm GMT on 15 March, 2021 was watched by nearly 5,000 people across the two platforms, in addition to which there were 206,000 paid views on Facebook. In total, over 9,000 votes were cast across the 18 awards categories that were open to the public vote, with significant engagement in the voting process being received from all corners of the globe.
David Wilson, Managing Director of Valebridge Media Services and publisher of Retreading Business, commented; “We were delighted to see such a high level of international participation in this
first edition of the Recircle Awards, and we’d like to thank the readers of Retreading Business and Tyre & Rubber Recycling for helping to make this project into a such a globally inclusive event.”
The eighteen categories that were open to the public vote were as follows;
Best Tread Rubber Supplier
This was one of the most hotly contested categories in the whole event, attracting considerable engagement from all the nominees. The eventual winner, following a late voting surge, was Vipal Rubber, one of the pre- event favourites, but congratulations also should be extended to Maxrubber, who finished in second place after leading for most of the voting period.
Best Tyre Recycling Industry Supplier
This categor y included a diverse selection of nominees, mostly from European markets. However, the winner of this award was the US-based Eco Green Equipment, whose high level of engagement in the process saw them succeed by a comfortable margin.
Best Retreading Equipment & Accessory Supplier
We decided to amalgamate the supply of equipment and accessories into a single categor y this year, a decision which we may review for future events. This categor y was won by Vipal’s recently introduced machiner y
division. However, due credit should also be extended to the US-based equipment distributor Central Marketing, who ran them close, despite being a regional operator competing in this categor y against global players.
Best Casing & Tyre Disposal Services Provider
The award for the best casing and tyre disposal services provider was a closely run contest, with the California-based TireCore International edging out the established German operator, Kurz Karkassenhandel, into second place.
Best Tyre Derived Recycled Product
The categor y for the best tyre derived recycled product had one of the highest levels of engagement from potential nominees, and in the end this categor y turned out to be the closest fought of all, with the Argentinian winner CEVE- CINTEMAC’s project to create roof tiles from recycled tyres, winning by a single vote from the incredibly unlucky Canadian nominee, Tyromer.
Best Retreading Industry Innovation
Innovation in the retreading sector is often slow moving, but there were some ver y worthy entrants in this sector, including two nominees in the sphere of robotics. However, the clear winner in this categor y was Vipal Rubber for their suggestive tread wear indicator – Eye Control Technology.
Best Tyre Recycling Innovation
This sector attracted a total of 16 entrants representing an extremely diverse range of products and technologies. In an even contest, the eventual winner was Pyrum Innovations autonomous pyrolysis plant, illustrating the importance of the pyrolysis sector.
Retread Industry Fleet Award
This categor y was designed with a ver y to encouraging our customers to highlight the achievements of fleet customers
who had shown particularly strong support to the retreading sector. The winner in this sector was the large Lithuanian logistics provider, Girteka Logistics, who is supplied by Lithuanian Marangoni dealer, Energija.
Best Publicity Campaign
As a publishing company, we were particularly keen to highlight innovative publicity campaigns within our sector, and there were certainly a few of those. By far the highest level of engagement in this sector came from the two Spanish nominees. The winner was Spanish EPR agency Signus Ecovalor for their pro-active social media campaign.
Employee of the Year
The Employee of the Year categor y was extremely closely fought. On the final day of the voting any of the five nominees was still in with a chance of winning. The eventual winner, Leo Linkesch from Marangoni triumphed due to a late surge of votes from colleagues and customers. However, an honourable mention must be given to Ankita Saikia from Tyromer, who led the contest throughout, only to be pipped at the post on the final day.
Business Innovation Award
This categor y was conceived with a view to recognizing innovative business ideas from across the retreading and tyre recycling sector. Thanks to massive engagement from South America, the winner of this award was never in doubt, and was won by the Ecuadorian scrap tyre management system, SEGINUS.
Best Tyre Retreader
The shortlisted nominees for this award included some of the largest and most prominent retreaders in the world and turned out to be a close contest between Vacu-Lug, Insa Turbo and Marangoni with the lead changing hands several time. The award eventually went to Marangoni.
