RECIRCLE AWARDS 2021
“We strongly believe that we all need to be smarter about how we use the earth’s limited resources. At Tyrecycle we are committed to being a world leader at recycling and reusing rubber rpoducts to meet this belief.”
Tyrecycle
Founded in 1992, Tyrerecycle is Australia’s largest tyre collector and processor of End-of-life tyres. It operates a
national network of tyre collection sites and 5 tyre processing facilities including Australia’s largest crumbing plant in
Somerton, Melbourne.
Tyrecycle currently claims to have three times the capacity for
production of rubber crumb versus the nearest competitor. The company collects and recycles end-of-life tyres and conveyor
belts, re-purposing them for use in road surfacing, sports and playground surfaces, tile adhesive and as Tyre Derived Fuel (TDF).
Tyrecycle exports TDF as a finished product for use in sophisticated, high-energy manufacturing environments and power plants
overseas.
Tyrecycle GUARANTEES a full chain of custody from collection to re-
manufacture, ensuring all its products are used in an environmentally sound way. Tyrecycle is committed to eliminating all tyres from landfill and fully supports the ban on whole baled tyres being sent offshore for
use in open-burning or low-grade pyrolysis operations.
In 2019, Tyrecycle has initiated a joint venture with Kariyarra Aboriginal
Corporation to solve the decades long issue of mine site tyres being buried in the Pilbara region. They have ensured to do this with the full
support of the Aboriginal community, maintaining a great environmental solution and providing jobs to the indigenous community in the Pilbara
region.
