earthmover tyre retreading factory in Ghana and West Africa, Kal Tire continues to invest in its retreading process. Technicians inspect every tyre thoroughly to ensure suitability for the retread process. Tyres are then buffed to the original casing and any damage is carefully repaired and filled. Tyres are then rebuilt with a robust natural and synthetic rubber compound mix, available in two different products: Kal Tire’s 'remould' range has the appearance and integrity of new tyres and are cured in specialist presses, while the 'Smooth & Groove' product can be configured in a range of different tread patterns to suit specific applications.
The goal moving forward, says Flint, is that Kal Tire is always hoping for growth and investment to achieve more environmental needs. “We see retreading helping to fulfill our quest for an environmental solution which is helping in reducing the burden of the number of tyres our numerous customers need to buy. We’re looking to grow the activity of tyre retreading and repairing
across the whole of West Africa.”
Recently, Kal Tire announced that its OTR tyre recycling facility in Antofagasta, the heart of Chile’s mining industry, is nearing full start-up.
