Obituary: Claudio Zeledon
moved to Ohio in late 1957. In 1958 Claudio had worked for the FE Myers pump company in Ashland and then in 1963 worked for the Hydromatic Pump Company located in Hayesville. Claudio was a member of the International Machinists.
In 1969 Claudio went to work for the Lazuras and O’Neils stores as a store manager. It was by chance that Claudio met a business owner from Akron that was looking for a bilingual person to help them in their Central, South American and Mexico export markets. Claudio became the export manager of ATISCO export division. Claudio travelled all of Mexico, Central, South America and the Caribbean.
In 1984 Claudio and Doris moved to Florida and worked alongside their son Daniel in founding Tesco Of America Inc. The company prospered in the export and domestic markets where Claudio again travelled the South American countries. The company has celebrated 30 years in business, and four years ago entered into a Joint Venture with Italmatic of Milan Italy.
In 2014 Claudio and Doris retired and returned to Ohio to enjoy their other 3 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Claudio is survived by his children, Judy and Mark Calderhead of Ohio, David and Annette Zeledon of Columbus Ohio, Daniel and Laura Zeledon of Plantation Florida, Susan and Gregg Keener of Ashland Ohio, as well as two sisters and three brothers all from San Jose Costa Rica.

We are sad to report the passing of Claudio Bermudez Zeledon, 88, the co-founder of Tesco of America Inc., who died of natural causes on April 7, 2019.
Claudio was born on December 30, 1930 the oldest of 10 siblings in San Jose Costa Rica. At the age of 18 he joined the “Political Revolution of 1948 against the then President Teodoro Picado. After the revolution was won, Claudio took a position at the main post office in San Jose, and in 1950 he had the opportunity to travel to San Antonio, Texas, to study at the IPI bible college from where he graduated with honours in 1954 at the top of his class.
It was there that he met his wife, Doris Marie Shenberger, who he married in 1954, and they began their married life working as missionaries in many countries. After a few years of traveling they
Continental Increases Production at US Pre-Cured Tread Plant

Continental continues to increase production at its pre-cured tread manufacturing facility in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The plant is prepared for an expected 300 percent increase in production this year, thanks to its high-tech manufacturing process and retread sales growth. In March, the company hired a second shift of production employees to support the additional volume demands. “We saw a double-digit percent increase in demand for our retreads in North America last year,” said Tom Fanning, vice president of sales and marketing for commercial vehicle tyres. “We expect that growth to continue as the quality of ContiTread becomes better known in the market and as we continue to add new partners to our ContiLifeCycle retreader
network.”
The pre-cured tread plant is realising efficiencies thanks to its sophisticated manufacturing equipment, as well as its location on Continental’s Mount Vernon campus, home to one of the largest rubber mixing operations in North America.
