Mathe Group to
Open New Retread Plant
New Marangoni Partner in Benelux
South African tyre recycling company The Mathe Group, has reportedly invested in a new retreading operation at the company’s Hammarsdale recycling plant, where currently around 150,000 radial truck tyres are
other uses including infill for sports fields, inclusion in modified bitumen for road resurfacing, and the manufacture of non-slip paint and ballistics equipment. According to Mehran Zarrebini, who is CEO of British Investment Group PFE International, one of the Mathe Group’s main investors, the Group’s primary focus is on sustainability and developing products manufactured from recycled materials. “This latest investment is in line with that and also provides us with an opportunity to diversify further and create additional revenue streams,” he said.
The new plant, which was sourced in China and delivered in June, will be commissioned in July. It is expected to double output and create at least ten new jobs.
“Ours will be the first facility to process both whole tyres and retread for various industries, including Van Dyck Carpets’ factory,” said Zarrebini.

Marangoni Retreading Systems has announced the expansion of its business in Benelux, thanks to a new partnership with Tyre Plan Europe, part of the Kargro Group. Tyre Plan Europe BVBA was established in 1988, becoming over the years one of the major players in the region specialised in the precure process. The company has historically been affiliated to the Bandag network but has now decided to face its future as part of the Ringtread network by signing an exclusivity agreement for the use of the Marangoni’s premium
retreading technology in the region. Tyre Plan’s offer has always been based on premium products and high quality and by taking this step, its offer will be even more competitive. The company’s plant based in Kalmthout (near Antwerp, Belgium), manufactures approximately 16.000 precure retreads per year. Tyre Plan also runs a hot cure retreading facility in Montfoort, Netherlands, which has been supplied with compounds by Marangoni for many years.
