industry. As for the attendance, we estimated that we attract from 2,500 to 3,000 tyre dealers per year,” he added.
During the Latin Tyre Expo 2019 the retreading industry was playing an important role in the attendance and the general
event, some market participants expressed their confidence that the new tyre manufacturers from China have been pushed out of their traditional markets, including the United States, European Union and some others. In these circumstances,
Things have not been easy for tyre retreaders in Latin America over the past several years, and yet a lot of companies engaged in the retreading industry were exhibiting or visiting the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo. Gustavo Lima, CEO of the show, expressed confidence that even though the challenges were not going to go away in the foreseeable future, retreading companies would remain an important part of the tyre family
and was not combined with the Latin Auto Parts Expo because of construction delays on the 635,000-sq.-ft Amador Convention Center, which was supposed to be finished before year-end 2018 to host a joint show. According to Latin Expo Group, the Central America region is home to about 46 million people who collectively imported more than $29.6 billion of U.S. goods in 2017. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, the region is the third largest export market for U.S. manufactured goods in Latin America, behind only Mexico
and Brazil. It was estimated that the overall demand for tyres would exceed 173 million units as soon as in 2020.
“This is our 10th show and we have really been successful even beyond our own expectations, as this tyre show and this particular place have attracted so many exhibitors and visitors from Latin America and Caribbean,” Lima said.
“This is a closed show, it is B2B, so we do not allow anybody in
agenda of the event.
“The retreading industry is obviously an important part of the TBR tyre sector in Latin America, which is a core market for this show, and there are also large multinational companies from Brazil and also Mexico that are here with us. We also have associations from the United States and other countries that are 100% dedicated to supporting the retreading industr y, including the machiner y companies and materials suppliers for retreading,” Lima said.
Retreaders against Chinese tyres
Just like in previous years, there was a huge delegation from China. Speaking during the
they could become more interested in expanding their presence on the regions, where no anti-dumping or protective barriers have been introduced so far, including in Latin America.
“The retreading industry is under the pressure of competition from cheap new tyres. This is a global phenomenon, and it was also the case in the United States until last month when the anti- dumping duties against TBR tyres were introduced. The price of the lower-tier new Chinese tyres in many cases are the same or even lower that of a retreaded tyre, and unfortunately if you do not have some sophisticated transport companies or logistics companies that understand the value of the price per km, it is
  raw
   in the region.
The show hosted more than 200 exhibitors from 67 different countries. The event took place nearly a month earlier than usual in the Atlapa Convention Center
here who are not actually in the tyre industr y or maybe want to get into the tyre business. That means that we don’t allow logistics companies, banks, anybody who is not in the
