TRM and Zeiss Announce Co-operation
Retread equipment manufacturer TRM Srl and shearography specialists Carl Zeiss Optotechnik GmbH have signed a co-operation agreement.
In its framework, TRM will add Zeiss Shearography
Systems to its
portfolio and will be
an authorised dealer
for this product line.
Furthermore, Zeiss
will train the
technical staff of
TRM on Intact
machines. This will
allow TRM to offer
qualified and
authorised after
sales service to
shearography
customers. For Zeiss
this will increase the availability of technical service throughout the markets in which it operates. Both companies will co-operate on a non-
exclusive basis in defined retreading markets in EMEA (incl. Russia) and South America.
Beyond sales and service of shearography systems, both

The new production line, expected to be in production in the second quarter of 2019, will produce Ringtreads up to and including 500mm widths.
“Our primary goal, every day, is to provide our customers with best in class products at the time they need them. This expansion will allow us to optimise our already successful demand driven inventory system, and we will be expanding our workforce by 10%, thus creating more American jobs,” added Chanthavy Vongsamphanh, Vice President Operations.
Update on USITC Remand Determinations
It has been reported that the US International Trade Commission filed remand determinations to the US Court of International Trade on January 30, 2019. By a majority of 3-2, the Commissioners determined the following:
"Upon consideration of the Court’s remand instructions and the parties’ comments, and based on the record in these remand proceedings, we determine that an industry in the United States is materially injured by reason of subject imports of truck and bus tyres (“TBTs”) from China that are sold in the United States at less than fair value and subsidised by the government of China."
TRIB, the US-based promotional and lobbying body point out that
whilst this is good news for the retreading industr y, there is still some way to go before a final determination is made.
In a press release TRIB stated; “The parties will now brief the remand results before the Court of International Trade and the Court could issue a judgement in the summer, although there are no deadlines for the Court. If the Court issues a final judgement upholding the remand results, the Department of Commerce would issue anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders and start collecting cash deposits on future imports of Chinese truck and bus tires. The Court could also send it back to the ITC and the process would start over again.”

The two locations of Kurz Karkassenhandel in Landau and Wendlingen have once again been certified as waste tyre and rubber disposal specialists. In addition, the employees in Landau have moved into new office facilities, whilst Wendlingen a new scale has been installed.
In October 2018 the audit took place at the Wendlingen and Landau sites, and as a result, since January 2019 the enterprises are now re-certified as disposal specialist enterprises. Kurz Karkassenhandel therefore meets the requirements of Paragraph 56 of the Recycling Management Act and ensures that people and the environment are protected in
the disposal of used tyres. When the new offices in Wendlingen were inaugurated about a year ago, demand also increased among the employees in Landau. Four new rooms with a total of 115 square metres were completed. In addition, Wendlingen has a new scale for loads of up to 50 tonnes. Thus, Kurz is no longer dependent on the opening times of other service providers and can weigh around the clock. In addition, the company now also offers the weighing of large weights as a service.
