Anastasia stays abreast
Burgas-based company, Anastasia, is running, or it would be better to say, was running, a truly unique retreading shop, since
that was not seen anywhere else. He and his team performed tremendous work, improving the operational performance of the equipment, introducing different know-how. In the end, those efforts appeared to be fruitless, as even with slightly better efficiency, the retreading line is no longer operating, according to Dobrev. Just like Maks, Anastasia is
using its retreading line only to retread tyres for its own needs. In better days, it was retreading tyres using hot and cold methods, but now only hot retreading remains, as according to Dobrev, it works well, matching the requirements of his company.
“Investments in new retreading equipment in Bulgaria have not been justified in recent years,” Dobrev said.
The large retreading companies in Bulgaria have connections in the capital and well-established relationships with the major transport companies. That is the reason, why in the retreading segment, they are able to operate slightly better than ever yone else in Bulgaria. Under these circumstances, the small plants, like the one that belongs to Anastasia are not able to maintain profitability, according to Dobrev. Anastasia is now only retreading several hundred tyres per year. This is virtually nothing and almost ten times less compared to the designed production capacity of its retreading line. However, Dobrev doesn’t care too much, as the company is doing quite well
in other segments.
From early 2018 Anastasia started an insurance business in the transport industr y. This is a new, but ver y promising direction for the company, according to Dobrev.
It is ver y interesting that the name, Anastasia, belongs to the sister of Dobrev. He named his company after her, because of one incident in his childhood. He was drowning, and his sister saved him, pulling him out of the river. “Naming my company after my sister was the way to thank her for that,” Dobrev recalled. Speaking about the future of the retreading market in Bulgaria, Dobrev said, that it was ver y unclear. Ever ything would depend on Chinese tyres, he assumed. However, one way or another, he would not advice anyone to bet money on the retreading business in Bulgaria these days.
