produces different types of tyres for a range of vehicles, including passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, farm and off-road vehicles.
BRiSA has a multi- dimensional role and is also engaged in managing the Bandag retreading plants in Turkey. Out of 20 Bandag franchisees, it has controlling stakes in four Bandag franchisees. “BRiSA sells PCT, extends technical support, installs systems, trains staff etc. for all 20 Bandag plants,” explained Berk Berkosy, Manager, Profleet Marketing, BRiSA.

of Istanbul, retreads about 1,000 TBR tyres by the precure process and 100 OTR tyres by the hot cure Orbitread process. “This is one of the first Bandag franchisees in Turkey where a shearography machine was installed back in 2016, although now four plants have shearography,” pointed out Kurtulus. The plant has the capacity to retread OTR tyres up to 51
inches in diameter.
BRiSA is focusing on improving capacity utilisation at ISB as currently only around 60 per cent capacity is utilised. ISB is controlled by four partners engaged in the new tyre business and they send their tyres to be retreaded at the Izmit plant.
When asked if any new investment is expected by Bandag franchisees in Turkey, Kurtulus revealed, “One of our biggest Bandag franchisee Yilmazlar, based in Trabzon, a city in the North East on the Black Sea coast is planning to invest in an
Orbitread facility by the end of 2017. This would double its OTR capacity.”
All Bandag plants are EC 109 certified, and Bandag claims to be the first retread company in Turkey with all its franchisee plants having EC 109 accreditation. “We are also in the middle of implementing new Bandag logos in all the franchisee plants,” concluded Berksoy.
