Lastiksan to Foray into Tread Production and Double TBR Retreads
Istanbul based Lastiksan first forayed into TBR retreading in 2013 and is now planning an expansion process that will see production doubled as well as the commencement of OTR retreading and the production of tread by 2019. The move involves the installation of additional autoclaves for TBR and OTR.
“Currently, we have one 25-tyre autoclave, and we are adding one 20-tyre chamber in October. We will add another combo autoclave that can retread 4 OTR tyres or 24 TBR tyres next year,” informed smail Subasi, Marketing Manager,

The plant, which retreads about 1,500 tyres each month, is based at Gebze, which is a district in Kocaeli Province, situated about 30 miles southeast of Istanbul. “The objective is to double the TBR production and introduce OTR retreading, as currently we outsource OTR retreading. Once we have the capability, we get them retreaded here,” claimed smail. Currently, the company gets around 40 OTR tyres retreaded from outside and could achieve OTR volumes of in between 50-60 tyres

The proposed Izmir plant will offer a complete package of new tyres, retread service, software support etc. It will be installed with one 20- tyre autoclave with initial production pegged at around 500 truck tyres per month. “It is a functional plant and we will acquire it early next year with a view to getting it operational by the middle of 2018.”
Currently, TATKO’s two plants produce about 2,500 TBR and 250-
different locations in Istanbul. TATKO also offers a service package ‘TATPRO’ that provides new tyres, retread and software and serves almost 10,000 vehicles in Turkey. In order to consolidate its new tyre business, TATKO also formed a retail network called Lastik Park in 2010, which has 400 tyre shops as its franchisees spread all over Turkey.
