CTT focuses on the development and improvement of the professionals of the Tipler Network Concessionaires and of the carriers served by these retreaders. With theoretical and practical content pertinent to the daily routine of logistics, CTT is a reference in terms of
learning. The visitors also learned a bit more about Tipler's history and they were presented with the brand's products and processes for manufacturing them, as well as important information regarding the transportation and tyre retread market.
     Chinese Tyres Impact on Bolivia
Bolivian commentators on the tyre sector claim that Chinese tyres have been responsible for the closure of at least four retreaders in the South American
country in the past year. Retreaders in Santa Cruz,
Bolivia, have been seeing a reduction in demand for
their retreaded tyres, and as
a result some businesses
have closed their doors.
Several factors are claimed
to have been responsible,
but the main one, according
to a representative of the
industry who wished to
remain anonymous, was
growth in the number of low- priced Chinese tyres present in the market.
Although in Bolivia there is no association of retreaders, the officials and executives of the remaining retreaders confirmed the closure of at least four companies. "There are a lot of people who are no longer retreading because of the massive import of cheap Chinese tyres," said Olga Manjón,
manager of the retreader Veizaga, who also explained that a couple of years ago a retreaded tyre cost 120 dollars and to buy new cost between 350 and 400 dollars. With such a great price differential people opted for retreading, but with the entrance of the Chinese tyres, available at prices as low as tyres from 160 dollars and the citizens prefer to buy a new tyre regardless of quality.
Similarly, Wálter Montenegro, administrative manager of the retreader Bruno, cited two situations that were the main pressures that affected all companies in this area. “Since 2014 we have been harmed by government policies such as
wage increases and the double bonus; the second factor is the smuggling of Chinese tyres. This has caused most carriers choose to buy new Chinese tyres and not
retreads," he said, adding that due to this situation several retreaders closed their doors. Manjón says that since last year his business
  has dropped 40 per cent.
On the other hand, Bruno claims an increase of 11 per cent in comparison to last year, which the company puts down to the increase in the international price of rubber forcing increases in new tyre prices as well as the success of the company’s own market strategies." My company currently retreads an average of tyres 500
monthly," Montenegro said. Among the companies that have already closed this service are: the Oriente, Swebol, Tumpar and Neumatec, among others.
Veizaga still has the wherewithal to fund promotional activities such as its calendar
Galgo Pre-Q recently participated in the 42nd International Cargo Transportation and Logistic Congress, Colfecar Expo, celebrated from the 13th to the 15th of September 2017 in Barranquilla, Colombia. This exposition focused on technology and innovations relating to the optimisation of operating costs for transportation companies.
The event was attended by the Colombian retreading network that covers the cities of: Bogotá, Duitama, Ibagué, Barranquilla,
Santa Marta, Cartagena, Cali, Eje Cafetero, Neiva, Pasto, Medellín, and Bucaramanga. Galgo unveiled several new tread patterns at the show, GRL (Galgo Rounded Shoulder Light), APL (All Position Regional Light) and MB (Metropolitan Bus), the first and second being for regional applications and the third for urban use. The designs incorporate Galgo’s Smartway approved low rolling resistance compound, which generates less pollution as well as achieving important fuel savings.
Bruma Pneus and Fleet Operators at Tipler
In August, Tipler received a visit from Bruma Pneus, from the city of Atibaia / SP, represented by one of its owners, Mr. Mauro Oliveira. At the meeting, three important fleet representatives from three different companies from the cities of Atibaia and Atatiba - Benedito Maiol, Cássio
Oliveira and Dilonei Dezordi were also present. Visitors came to see the CTT - Tipler Training Centre and the state-of-the-art industr y facilities that produce the Tipler pre-cured treads, accompanied by the Tipler Regional Sales Coordinator for the state of São Paulo, Mário
