In North America CIMA is represented by Central Marketing, who Capecchi agrees have been vital partners in selling to and servicing the US market. “In the US you need strong local
support from partners who are prepared to stock a substantial inventory of spare parts. Central Marketing has been prepared to do this and also has lots of highly skilled staff, who can travel and help service CIMA equipment. The most recent development has been the creation of a jointly owned service company, which can also train retreaders.”
In the USA, CIMA says it has noticed a trend for larger fleets to set up their own mould cure retread plants. The company says
it has helped set up
three or four such
plants in recent years.
In Asia, the market
has been more
difficult, where there
has not been much
movement in the
retreading sector, at
least not as far as
premium European-
made equipment is
concerned. Despite
this, Vignolini believes
there may be potential
in future in some
more technical areas
of the market,
potentially also in the
aircraft sector.
Another area in which
CIMA has recently
invested is in the
consumables sector, where the company has established a new division to develop retread consumables sales in Italy and Europe. This started in 2003, when the company acquired the Pincott agency for Italy. Since the acquisition of Pincott by Elgi, however, the company has held

the Italian distributorship for all Elgi products, but has also developed a wider multibrand portfolio of accessories and consumables, which the company sells to retreaders throughout Europe.
