Jianxin Positions Itself for Growth in Both New Tyre and Retread Sectors
Brave Cai why
Jianxin decided to
invest in new truck
tyres.
“We have
understood the fact
that low priced, low
quality tyres are only
a short term
solution,” he
explained. “It is high
quality premium
tyres that are
urgently needed in
the market.
“There are two main
reasons why we
decided to enter the
new tyre sector,” he
continued. “Firstly,
we have seen a
scenario where most
Chinese new tyres
became increasingly
cheap to the point
where the price of
retreaded tyres and cheap Chinese new tyres were almost the same. Not surprisingly, customers preferred to buy new tyres. At the same time, our customers were telling us that it was becoming increasingly hard to get good quality casings to do retreading. Most Chinese new tyres are cheap and the quality is often not good. We wanted to supply good quality tyres so we could get good quality casings.”
A quick look at Jianxin’s new tyre catalogue reveals that the company has focused on two key performance characteristics – mileage and overload resistance. Indeed, in Singapore, Brave Cai confirmed that the company were focusing initially on markets where overloading was an issue. “To measure whether a tyre is good or not, it is important to concentrate on the most important aspects - mileage performance and casing quality,” he explained. “Longer mileage

However, in 2010 the family owned business decided to take the next step in its global expansion plan and invested RMB 2.4 billion in establishing a TBR tyre manufacturing plant under
the name of Jianxin Tyre. The first radial tyres rolled off the production line in 2013, and now the company is well on its way to establishing itself in a number of global markets, both for its new tyres and its retread products. We met up with Brave Cai, the family member responsible for sales
into the cut throat world of new tyre manufacturing, the state of the Chinese retreading industr y, and the company’s gradual growth outside China as a supplier of tread rubber to the retread sector.
The Group’s new tyre manufacturing company, Jianxin Tyre (Fujian) Co., Ltd, is located
on a 400.00 sq m site in Nige Industrial Park, YongAn City, and has quickly developed one of the most complete new tyre ranges on the market against a difficult market background characterised by more and more factories facing bankruptcy. In the light of the current market scenario, we asked
means less cost. With regards to overloading, this is very common in many places, and in these countries good quality casings are vital. This is why we focus on mileage performance and overload resistance.”
Jianxin currently offers three main ranges in the new tyre sector – branded Overloading Conquer, Variety Universal and Comprehensive Optimisation. Overloading Conquer, as the name suggests, has been specially designed with a particularly strong casing for extra overload resistance. The Variety Universal range, meanwhile, includes patterns that are suitable for a variety of road conditions whilst the Comprehensive Optimisation range focuses on patterns and sizes for special applications and environments.
On the subject of product quality, Jianxin operates what it calls a “Perfect Raw Material Purchasing System”.
