          THE TIRE
Retreading Business to Help Organise Tyre Recycling Zone at The Tire Cologne

number of key exhibitors from the retreading and tyre recycling industries have already committed themselves to supporting the new
and the German association has played an active role in promoting The Tire Cologne from the start. The organisers of The Tire Cologne
point out that despite tyre recycling’s position of key importance in the industry, it receives relatively little attention. The aim of The Tire Cologne is to significantly raise awareness among manufacturers and trade and remind them of their individual accountability under the banner of “Circle of Responsibility”. The special area dedicated to tyre recycling will be a 136 sq m in size and managed and
there together with some of our other sister publications from around the world. The seminar programme will be planned and co- ordinated by Retreading Business Ltd with support from Koelnmesse GmbH.
David Wilson, the Publisher of Retreading Business and Tyre & Rubber Recycling commented; “The plan is to develop a highly interesting series of talks during the show, focusing on all areas of tyre recycling – pyrolisis, devulcanisation, sports surfaces, rubberised asphalt, retreading and TDF. In addition, as tyre recycling is a global problem, we will be looking at attracting speakers from North and South America, South Africa and Asia as well as from Europe in order to allow visitors to get a global perspective of the developments that are taking place in the tyre recycling sector worldwide.”
On the subject of the development of The Tire Cologne as the successor to the Essen show Wilson commented; “In my opinion there is
retreading and recycling sectors, are pleased to announce a co-operation with Koelnmesse GmbH to help develop a special tyre recycling zone at The Tire Cologne, which will take place in Cologne, Germany from 29 May to 1st June, 2018. The co- operation will help The Tire Cologne meet its aim to become the primary event for the tyre retreading and recycling sectors worldwide. The exhibition will take place in Halls 6, 7, 8 and 9, which lie in the North area of the Cologne fair grounds, completed in 2006, and provide 70,000 square metres of exhibition space. Hall 9 will be dedicated to retreading, tyre recycling and tyre disposal. According to the organisers, a
event including Akar Makina, B&J Rocket, Elgi, Kraiburg, Rekor Kaucuk, Rema Tip Top, Carl Zeiss (Steinbichler), Dikabo, Kargro, Kurz and ZARE (Germany’s certified scrap tyre disposal companies), as have most of the leading tyre manufacturers including Continental, Goodyear Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli, BKT, Giti, Aeolus and Yokohama. A number of additional companies from the retreading and recycling sectors have also reserved space, and the organisers are waiting final confirmation of their participation. Crucially the show also has the support of the BRV, the German trade association which represents both tyre dealers and retreaders,
manned by Retreading Business Ltd. This zone will be a special area for talks and presentations from key industry experts on the subject of tyre recycling, meeting areas for representatives within the tyre recycling sector, and a display area for recycled product showing the plethora of products and industries that are developing within this sector, as well as special activities such as a planned prize draw. Of course, Retreading Business and Tyre & Rubber Recycling magazines will be also
a need for a dedicated tyre show in Europe that takes place in May/June, and which does not run the risk of being swallowed up by a global aftermarket show. This is even more the case for a niche sector such as tyre retreading and recycling. I feel that the dedicated tyre retreading and recycling hall at The Tire Cologne offers the best opportunity for our sector to retain the globally renowned show that it deserves. I am sure that the show will be a great success, and stand space will ultimately be in great demand, so I would urge those regular exhibitors who have not yet made enquiries about participation at the show, to do so in order to make sure they have the best choice of stand location.”
