      Continental Acquires Bandvulc
 Bandvulc, the UK’s largest independent retreader, has been acquired by Continental Tyre Group for an undisclosed fee.
The deal will see Continental acquiring Bandvulc’s production facility at Ivybridge, near Plymouth as well as the company’s tyre distribution and fleet management interests. The acquisition will allow the current Bandvulc business to expand, giving it access the Continental’s global network of customers and fleet services. Bandvulc has had a close working relationship with Continental for more than 25 years and the German manufacturer has made it clear that the entire management team will be remaining with the company, including Managing Director, Patrick O’Connell.
The Ivybridge factory will continue to produce retreads in both
Bandvulc and Continental's ContiRe brands, with plans for further investment to widen the range of ContiRe produced in the UK.
The acquisition includes the Bandvulc Tyre Maintenance service network covering five service hubs in Leeds, Washington, Lutterworth, Nottingham and Luton as well as Bandvulc’s distribution warehouse in Wigan.

Our complementary customer portfolios and product lines mean that each area of the business is able to benefit from extensive growth opportunities with very few areas of overlap.”

    Tyre Retreading Conference Planned for Rome in 2017
Galgo once again participated at the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo, held from July 13 to 15, 2016 in Panama City. The show is focused on all types of tyres, recycling equipment, accessories, tools, tyre retread manufacturers and various other items related to the tyre and retread industry
across Latin America.
During the show Galgo took the opportunity to introduce two new tread designs to the Latin American market, namely the Super Single Rib Light (SRL), created for highway applications, and the Galgo
Rounded Shoulder Light (GRL), created for regional applications. These treads have many benefits, including a low rolling resistance compound that not only generates less pollution but also helps to reduce fuel consumption.

   Galgo Shows Strong Profile at Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo
 Exhibition organisers TechnoBiz Europe are planning to stage a reading conference between 4-5 October 2017 in Rome, Italy. The conference, to be entitled Tyre Retreading Europe 2017 is being launched with the support of the Italian Retreaders’ Association (AIRP) and will be co-located with the Association’s Annual Meeting. According to the organisers, the first day of the event will focus on conference presentations, while the second day will focus on a one-day post-conference training course covering “Principles, Best and Worst
Practices.”
Focus areas for the retreading conference will include developments in both mould cure and pre-cure technology, developments in auxiliary equipment, retreading and the environment, the impact of retreading on the European Energy Balance, the market outlook for retreading in Europe and new regulations.
