Open House at MTNA’s Newest Ringtread Dealer
ContiLifeCycle dealer, Piedmont Truck Tires will be supplied with flat, precured ContiTread products, which will allow the dealer to produce retreads featuring the same pattern designs, rubber compounding and tread technology that are included in new Continental brand truck tyres, Continental said.
Piedmont has been selling new Continental tyres since late in 2010. It began producing the ContiLifeCycle tyres in July.
“We chose to extend our relationship with Continental because we believe in the quality of their products, and see they are moving aggressively to become an industry leader,” said Dan Rice, president of Piedmont Truck Tires. “Continental has proven to be a true partner and we are prepared to take the steps needed to support the growth of both businesses.”
“Our dealer partners in the ContiLifeCycle network service both national and regional fleet customers who want to extend the performance of their Continental truck tyres into the second, third or even fourth lifetime,” explained Paul Williams, Continental’s executive vice president for truck tyres in the Americas.
Piedmont’s will produce the retreads in a 155,000 sq. ft. facility. The company is also the first retreader to use Continental’s proprietary new manufacturing control software, CLC Soft.
CLC Soft provides an interface to manage the entire retread process, from tyre collection to delivery to the retreader’s enterprise, Continental explained. By running as a cloud-based solution, or locally stored on any web-enabled device, CLC Soft provides dealers with a wide range of flexibility.

Rick Majewksi, is the vice president of Wilson County Tire & Retreading and is an industry veteran with over 30 years of retreading, fleet and service knowledge.
The open house featured a plant tour, Spot the Retread contest and an Out of Service tyre demonstration. Guests were also provided lunch and could enter a drawing for the chance to win a set of eight commercial truck tyres or
system technology.
Visitors tested their knowledge and skills when they tried to spot the difference between a tyre that had been retreaded using the Ringtread system verses a new tyre. Contestants identified the Ringtread 70 per cent of the time as the new tyre.
Marangoni and Wilson County Tire associates guided guests on a step- by-step tour that explained the process of creating a retreaded tyre from delivery to finish using the Ringtread system. Each station provided additional video demonstrations along with explanations from guides.
