Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres, the Grantham, UK based commercial tyre remoulding specialist, has been awarded OHSAS 18001 – the BSI certification for Occupational Health and Safety Management. This, added to the company’s two existing
accreditations for quality and environmental management, make Vacu-Lug the first UK Retreader to hold all three standards and as such, the company has set a new benchmark for the industry.
The company has invested heavily in training and systems development at
every level: From administration through to production line procedures, all personnel
have benefited from a sustained improvements programme aimed at increasing efficiency, improving quality and ensuring safety.

Vijay Retreads Opens Second Outlet at Kalamassery
Vijay Retreads, one of the franchisees of the Coimbatore- based Treadsdirect Ltd, has opened its second plant in the State, at Kalamassery. The first plant was in Palakkad.
According to Sudarsan Varadaraj, Chairman and Managing Director, the plant has a capacity to retread more than 1,000 tyres a month, which can be expanded
up to 3,000 with additional curing chambers.
The Kochi market has moved over to radials in a big way in the passenger car and LCV segments. This move to radials is boosting the retread sector in those parts of India where radials have been widely adopted by the transport sector.
