Grünload From Roesler for the USA
Hankook Launches Retreads At CV Show
International tyre distributor Leviathan Corp. is initiating a service to dealers in the U.S. and has created a website to introduce its product range of OTR tyres to U.S. customers. Otrusa.com has tyres in stock at 12 warehouses throughout the U.S., according to Brian Cohn, founder of Leviathan, the Brooklyn-based company that’s been distributing internationally since 1999.
To help jumpstart the business, Leviathan has struck an exclusive distribution deal with South Korea’s Hung-A Co. Ltd. to handle Hung-A’s Tiron bias-ply OTR tyre brand and created the Grünload brand of precure retreaded OTR radials, sourced from Germany’s Roesler Group using only Michelin XLDD2 casings in two sizes initially - 45/65R39 and 45/65R45. Leviathan/Otrusa.com has OTR tyres in stock in sizes ranging from 25- through 57-inch rim diameters as skidsteer and industrial sizes.
In an effort to maximize the working life of tyres and seek green initiatives to promote reuse of materials, Otrusa.com has developed the Grünload line to compliment its other lines of new premium OTR tyres.
Claiming to represent the pinnacle of quality in retreading, Grünload tyres are re-manufactured in Germany using Michelin casings and a patented curing process to produce a remould with performance on par with a new premium brand OTR tyre. The pre-cure tread used in the re- manufacture often out-performs the working hours obtained by the original tires and gives a green second life to top quality casings.
Grünload tyres achieve top performance and provide an environmentally conscious option to the mining industry.
The company’s strategy is to use its widespread distribution resources to serve smaller dealers and/or those needing orders smaller than container loads, Mr. Cohn said, as well as provide significantly shorter delivery times.
“We don’t want to be seen as just another broker of tyres,” he said, noting the company will be adding several information features - such as a protective chain selector/cost- savings calculator as well as a ton- kilometre per hour calculator to optimise tyre purchase choices for dealers and end-users alike.
The Alphatread bead to bead retread truck tyre range is designed for medium haul purposes with drive and trailer axle sizes. Hankook says it recognises the need to offer a cradle to grave package to its clients. The Hankook Alphatread has been specifically designed to maximise mileage as the casings of Hankook’s 1st life A1 grade

trailer tyre. It has a five-rib tread design and what the company calls a “cool running compound”, alongside optimised zigzag grooves for stone ejection and crack prevention. Hankook says the wide, solid shoulder area provides a higher mileage and helps to prevent belt separation. Its kerfless centre rib
