KRAIBURG Austria is consciously continuing its future-oriented path. “As sustainability and CO2 reduction efforts are gradually being stepped up, we believe retreading will become even more important in the future,” says Stefan Mayrhofer, Managing Director of KRAIBURG Austria. “We are preparing for this with targeted measures.”
With strategic investments, KRAIBURG optimally positioned for the future
KRAIBURG Austria remains committed to its forward-looking strategy, emphasising the growing significance of retreading in light of enhanced sustainability and CO2 reduction efforts. Despite facing a nearly 7% decrease in turnover to 85 million euros in the past year, attributed to Europe’s economic downturn and challenges in the supply chain. With a sound strategy, Mayrhofer views the issues as surmountable, highlighting obstacles such as increased imports of non-retreadable tyres from Asia and high inventory levels, inflation and potential supply chain disruptions, particularly concerning the Suez Canal, as challenges for 2024, but remains confident in the company’s ability to navigate these with strategic planning and investments.
Planned investments of ten million euros over the next 18 months aim to future-proof the business, focusing on product innovation, production automation, sustainability, and energy optimisation. Initiatives include developing a new photovoltaic system and installing a heat pump system to reduce gas usage by 20-25%, aligning with the Science Based Targets initiative to eliminate CO2 emissions. KRAIBURG Austria’s commitment to customer satisfaction and economic success for all stakeholders underpins its efforts to lead in sustainable retreading.
