Material Services – a Specialty for KRAIBURG Austria

KRAIBURG Austria has founded a new business unit: Material Services. Customers can access six modules individually or as a package, from laboratory testing, compound development, process engineering, and compound production to tyre construction and testing.

A Reliable Development Partner for Product Innovations

KRAIBURG has stated they can scale everything from small to large, covering everything from transfer laboratory reality to practical application. “In recent years, we have made a name for ourselves as a reliable development partner for product innovations,” says Dr Wolfgang Loreth, Head of Product Development at KRAIBURG Austria. “Due to the growing demand, we have subsumed these special services into a separate division. This will enable us to serve orders from now on even better and more flexibly and to expand the service in a targeted manner.”

The demand for quality and perfection also drives the Upper Austrians regarding material services. This is ensured by state-of-the-art machine equipment and decades of rubber compound expertise, whether for high-performance, carbon black, silica, butyl compounds or the processing of low-viscosity compounds. “The inquiries are as individual as they are varied,” adds Marcus Knoth, KRAIBURG’s responsible sales representative. “Our many years of expertise and wealth of experience are an ideal addition for many companies, and, of course, we always try to provide the fastest and best possible processing.” Their customer base includes new tyres, machinery and raw materials manufacturers. Well-known bus and truck manufacturers and large and small tyre companies have already enquired. Evonik, for example, which focuses on developing and producing special chemicals, asked KRAIBURG Austria to carry out a truck tyre test in 2021, which was completed at the end of last year. The focus was on the performance of silica and silane-reinforced tread compounds compared to conventional carbon black compounds with high-surface silica and silanes adapted to the system. The Upper Austrians are also developing and testing a special tyre compound for a well-known extruder manufacturer.

Customised solutions for All

If a company has already developed compounds, for example, KRAIBURG Austria offers various laboratory tests for analysis. The results either verify the submitted product or provide valid information for optimisation. For the design of compounds, KRAIBURG utilises its specialists in the R&D department, who are very familiar with all requirements and materials. When testing the process capability of raw materials, the process technology of the large-scale kneader plants is utilised. If a finished compound is to be produced, KRAIBURG produces it on its kneaders and extruders. The product can then be used for test purposes in a very short time. If, on the other hand, a tyre needs to be built to be analysed for practical use, the family-owned company works together with its long-standing and reliable retreading partners. KRAIBURG is also happy to organise individual tyre tests – from tyre measurement to application, including detailed documentation. “Every order is different and therefore individual,” explains Dr Loreth. “Our speciality is tailor-made solutions, for which we coordinate every detail with the customer before the start and during processing.”
