Elgi Rubber is set to revolutionise tyre retreading with its new “Zero Wastage” initiative, aiming to reduce waste across its franchise network.
Retreading Leading to Zero Waste
This modernised process is expected to enhance efficiency while minimising environmental impact. “Transitioning to a zero-wastage process, similar to leading global standards, will result in significant savings,” said Sudarshan Varadaraj, Chairman and Managing Director of Elgi Rubber, during a recent franchisee meeting in Goa.
Also announced at the franchisee meeting was the fact that Elgi is also venturing into designs for green energy vehicles, reflecting the sector’s shift towards sustainability. Although a launch date has not been set, the company aims to introduce this product line in the near future. Additionally, Elgi plans to import tyre repair strings from its Texas-based subsidiary, Elgi Rubber Company LLC, to meet growing market demand. These strings will be available within two months, alongside increased sales efforts for repair patches through franchisee networks.
Meanwhile, Elgi Rubber has achieved a 10% growth in both domestic and export markets, supported by new franchisees and expanded international reach. “Strengthening our customer base through improved marketing and technical support has driven this growth,” said Satish Kumar, Vice President of International Marketing. The company’s franchisee meeting in Goa brought together 120 participants, fostering collaboration and sharing insights on reducing costs and improving efficiency. Elgi also launched its B2B portal at the event, underscoring its commitment to digital expansion.
