Elgi Rubber, a well-established name in the Indian retreading sector, attended TyreXpo Asia 2025 in Singapore to strengthen its position in international markets. We caught up with Satish Kumar, Sales and Distribution, for export markets outside India. While the show presented challenges—particularly regarding a mixed exhibitor presence dominated by Chinese suppliers—the company found valuable opportunities to expand its distribution network in Southeast Asia.
Building an Export-Focused Strategy
As Elgi Rubber continues to grow, its focus is shifting increasingly towards export markets. The company sees Southeast Asia as a key region for expansion, with particular interest in securing new distributors.
Speaking at the event, an Elgi representative noted that while the company’s tread rubber products were not the primary area of interest, there was considerable demand for other retreading-related consumables, such as envelopes springs and repair patches, as well as potentially their tread rubber.
These product lines have attracted the attention of potential distributors, reinforcing the company’s strategy to diversify its exports beyond its core retreading materials.
Success in Securing Distribution Leads
Despite the challenges of navigating a complex exhibitor mix at TyreXpo Asia, Elgi Rubber successfully engaged with several potential partners. The company believes these new connections will be instrumental in establishing a stronger distribution presence across Southeast Asia.
With a dedicated team member now leading the company’s export sales efforts, Elgi Rubber is set to accelerate its growth beyond the Indian market.
Following its participation at TyreXpo Asia, Elgi Rubber focuses on solidifying agreements with new distributors and further expanding its regional footprint. With growing demand for high-quality retreading consumables, the company is well-positioned to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia and beyond.
