Apollo Retread Centre, located in the middle of North India’s biggest trucking hub, Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, on the outskirts of Delhi, opened a Truck Service Centre in early 2024.
Expansion for Retreading Customer Service Standards
“We aim to serve vehicles heading towards Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh while collecting casings for retreading,” said Vipul Sharma, Director of Standard Tyres. The MTSC replaces a discontinued mobile service, targeting truck and bus fleets in Northern India and planning to expand into car tyre maintenance.
Standard Tyres, which retreads about 5,500 tyres annually, switched from Indag to Apollo five years ago. The plant retreads 18 tyres daily, primarily serving the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet and offering quality retreads with an average mileage of 90,000 km.
Sharma noted that rising costs push fleets towards retreaded tyres, which perform comparably to new ones at a lower cost. However, labour shortages and delayed payments for retread services remain challenges.
