Stamford Tyres Announces Passing of Founder Wee Kok Wah

The Board of Directors of Stamford Tyres Corporation Limited, along with its subsidiaries, announced with deep sadness the passing of Wee Kok Wah, the company’s Founder and Senior Advisor, on 21 October 2024, at the age of 78.

A Huge Loss to Singapore’s Tyre Sector

Wee was the visionary behind Stamford Tyres and a revered leader whose commitment to the company spanned over four decades. His dedication, integrity, and passion for the business played a crucial role in shaping Stamford Tyres into the respected global entity it is today.

Under his leadership, Stamford Tyres expanded beyond Singapore, becoming a significant international player in the distribution and retail of tyres and wheels and in the manufacturing of wheels. Wee led the company through its public listing in 1991 and played a key role in its global expansion.

Known for his expertise and deep knowledge of the tyre industry, Wee gained international recognition and respect within the business community. Although he stepped down as Managing Director in November 2021, he continued to serve as Senior Advisor, offering invaluable guidance to the Board and senior management.

The Stamford Tyres family will continue to uphold the values and principles that Wee instilled, ensuring his legacy lives on as they move forward in the company’s future endeavours.
