Experts Appointed to Analyse the Challenges of the Tyre Industry in China

The experts attending the first China International Conference on Tyre Industry Cooperation & Developments organised by Automechanika Shanghai, the leading automotive fair for the entire supply chain in Asia, along with Valebridge Media Services, a British communication agency, as well as the Chinese online information platform Cheychez.com, will speak about some of the essential aspects in understanding the situation of the Chinese tyre industry, its challenges, and the opportunities that the current changes may bring.

Experts Finalised for China Conference

The “China International Conference on Tyre Industry Cooperation & Developments”, whose first edition will be held on November 29 during the Automechanika Shanghai fair, will be structured into six presentations, each one from an outstanding professional, that will be offering their expert vision of the industry.

Backed by a broad experience and a deep knowledge, the speakers include: Dr. Qun-Lian Hong, Director and Deputy Researcher of the Industrial Economic Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission of China; David Shaw, Chief Executive of Tire Industry Research (TIRes); Sandro García-Salmones, Project Manager of Valebridge Media Services; Zheng-bo Yue, from Jia yi Bing Ding, an integrated tyre logistics and supply chain service group, and Martin von Wolfersdorff, Recycling Specialist from Wolfersdorff Consulting Berlin.

Qun-Lian Hong, who will offer the first presentation of the “China International Conference on Tyre Industry Cooperation & Developments”, has actively participated in the economic and industrial policies and advice in research, as well as in the creation of the drafts for the “13th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Strategic Emerging Industries” and the “Outline of Service Industry Innovation and Development” He is a renowned researcher, and the results of his work enjoy great prestige in China. Moreover, he is the author of 10 books, more than 60 articles and has participated in 50 provincial, national, and ministerial projects.

With this wealth of experience, Qun-Lian Hong will speak in his presentation “China tyre industry current situation and policy developments” about the problems that China is currently facing due to the national and foreign policies. In this sense, the expert will analyse the impact of the commercial disputes with the United States and how Chinese and western companies can weather the storm by taking on more environmentally friendly technologies and manufacturing.

The second presentation of the conference will be offered by David Shaw. Owner and Chief Executive of the small company Tire Industry Research (TIRes), with 30 years of experience in the industry. TIRes publishes a weekly newsletter on the tyre industry in China as well as monthly reports on the global tyre industry, among other publications. He is also managing the Tyre Technology conference, held every February, and provides advice for company directors and corporate strategists of the tyre industry.

So, the title of his presentation “How to sell more tyres in Europe” couldn’t be more insightful. He will focus on the practical aspects that the Chinese manufacturers can implement to improve their sales in Europe. Shaw will mention different kinds of distribution available in Europe, how to use them optimally and how to present products in the best light through labelling, tyre sizes, and types based on the solid grounds of research findings.

Marketing, E-Commerce and Recycling

Sandro García-Salmones comes from the marketing, advertising and communication world and has built a reputation for implementing Asian brands in the European market in his role as an International Account Manager. In this sense, he has worked hand in hand in common projects with the main tyre manufacturers with leading positions in the European market.

Valebridge Media Services Project Manager will take the floor for the fourth presentation of the conference to provide some advice on “Optimising the Tyre Brand for Western Markets”. In this way, García-Salmones will highlight the strengths of the Chinese manufacturers and distributors, and how to optimise them to successfully land on the European and American markets with case studies.

His focus on the different campaigns and messages that may boost the development of brands in those markets is worth stressing, since he has a wide experience in the advertising sector.

The integrated tyre logistics and supply chain service group, Jia yi Bing Ding, will be represented at the conference by Zheng-bo Yue, who will speak about one of the most controversial and topical issues of the industry: The prospects of tyre e-commerce business in China”. Zheng-bo Yue will analyse the e-tailing in the Chinese tyre industry, its opportunities and future development. In his speech, he will speak about how to adopt the O2O (Online-to-Offline) business model on the tyre’s end-to-end supply chain management.

And last but not least, Martin von Wolfersdorff, consultant specialising in alternative rubber fillers and tire pyrolysis, will speak about “Tyre recycling of the future”. This experienced professional is in contact with over 300 tyre pyrolysis companies globally and advises tyre manufacturing associations, tyre manufacturers, refineries and several operators of the tire recycling industry.

This chemist studied at the Friedrich Alexander University, and he will provide the last presentation of the conference in which he’ll provide an overview of the global recycling market, with particular reference to pyrolysis, devulcanisation and granulation. Von Wolfersdorff will also emphasise carbon black recycling that sheds a new light on future environmentally friendly, yet commercially viable recycling solutions.

So, thanks to the participation of these experienced professionals of the industry that compose the panel of speakers for the first edition of the “China International Conference on Tyre Industry Cooperation & Developments”, this forum aims to become a reference, platform and ground for ideas and proposals that pave the way to the European markets for the Chinese manufacturers and distributors.

Automechanika Shanghai is the leading automotive fair for the entire supply chain in Asia. Organised by Messe Frankfurt and China National Machinery Industry International Co Ltd (Sinomachint), it is one of the17 Automechanika fairs held in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. This year’s edition, that will be held from November 28 to December 1, will occupy 350.000 m2 and welcome 6,250 exhibitors that will be displaying their products and services to the 140,000 visitors expected to attend the fair on this occasion.
