The 70th edition of the Off-The-Road (OTR) Tire Conference, organised by the Tire Industry Association (TIA), is scheduled from 19 to 22 February 2025 at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino. Marking a significant milestone, this conference is set to draw critical figures from the OTR tyre sector, offering a blend of educational insights, practical demonstrations, and networking opportunities.
Emphasis on Sustainability and Innovation
With the theme, ‘Maximising Growth Through Training, Industry Insight, and Professional Development’, this year’s conference promises a series of informative sessions led by industry experts. Topics will range from technological advancements and legislative updates to strategies for maintaining competitiveness in a challenging market. Notably, Caterpillar, a leader in earthmoving and mining equipment, will present insights into the impact of autonomous trucks on tyre wear—an increasingly relevant topic as the industry continues its shift towards automation.
Economic forecasts for 2025 will also be a focal point, with sessions dedicated to examining the US and Canadian markets. Experts will analyse trends within the mining and construction sectors, offering valuable economic insights to guide business decisions in the coming year.
A key highlight of the conference is the emphasis on sustainability within the tyre industry. Italian company Rover Research will showcase its patented WaterJet technology, which provides cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions for tyre retreading and recycling. This innovation, aimed at enhancing profitability while reducing the industry’s carbon footprint, is expected to attract considerable interest among attendees.
Complementing the educational sessions, the conference will feature interactive tabletop displays, allowing participants to explore the latest products and services in the OTR market. These displays facilitate direct dialogue between suppliers and manufacturers, enabling attendees to gain deeper insights into the latest innovations driving the industry forward.
Live demonstrations will also be a key element, focusing on technician safety and efficiency. This year, demonstrations will concentrate on wheel torque and chain installation, crucial areas for professionals working with large tyre and rim assemblies.
In addition to the formal sessions, the conference will offer attendees various opportunities to connect and build relationships. Social events, receptions, and leisure activities—including golfing, hiking, and fishing—will provide a relaxed environment for networking.
With support from major industry sponsors, the conference has witnessed significant interest, with room bookings nearing capacity. Attendees are advised to register early to secure their places at what is set to be a landmark event for the OTR tyre industry.
